Beginning Meditation (Again)
We've all heard that meditation is "life-changing" but if you're anything like me, you've tried a few times, felt bored or found that you're thinking too much, and gave up. Here I am, right here with you, giving meditation another shot. I have heard about all the amazing benefits -- like calming your mind, finding yourself, and staying sane in the insanity that is life. I want that. But I am now realizing that I need to work for it. Meditation looks easy. Sitting there with your eyes closed and body still can't be hard, right? But it's your mind that is running in every direction. That's what meditation is for: to slow down your super-hard-working brain.
I came across a really helpful article for beginning meditators by Gabrielle Bernstein. Check it out, including the video at the bottom. Meditation, just like anything new, needs to be practiced. I also found a great 21-Day Mantra Meditation on Spotify. Search for: "Deva Premal Mantra Meditation." I've found that it's a great way to wake up in the morning.
So, join me, give meditation another chance and maybe we'll be able to figure out what all the hype is about.
