The Book Behind the Brand

Jacky’s book Addy Wants to Fit In is about an ant who is a picky eater who often feels left out at dinner time. She desperately wants to try the foods that her friends and family eat, but has a hard time. This story opens up the dialogue around trying new foods (and trying new things in general) and reminds kids it’s okay to be nervous and brave at the same time.

The Presentation

After a read-aloud of Addy Wants to Fit In, Jacky will walk students through the writing and illustrating process with a visual presentation. She drives home the important reminder that mistakes and patience are crucial to achieving difficult goals.

This presentation is ideal for students from 1st Grade through 5th Grade.

Sessions should be kept to regular class sizes (20-30 students) because they are interactive and will lose value with a bigger group. Travel fees apply for schools further than 10 miles from Boston, MA.

When I grow up I might be a writer just like you. Thank you SO much for coming on our Zoom. Even though I think in person is better it still was SO fun to Zoom with a real author!

Jacky gave an engaging presentation to the 4th graders! They loved learning about the pattern of writing a picture book and listening to Jacky read her story aloud. It was fun to see the stages of illustrating and learning about the timeline of writing a book.
