Self-Publishing to Amazon (For Adults)
Even though the heart of Lemon House Publishing is our live course for children, we love helping passionate adults publish books, too!
Lemon House’s Self-Publishing to Amazon course is ideal for any adult who has a pretty-close-to-final draft of their writing.
If you plan to publish a children’s book, the illustrations should be completed or close to being completed.
This course does not cover writing techniques, critique, or editing. There are no additional costs to publishing your work unless you choose to upgrade your Canva plan or purchase an ISBN from Bowker. Create your own free Amazon KDP account before getting started. Additional costs may include hiring an editor, illustrator, or designer before publishing.

WHY SELF-PUBLISHING?
The reason I decided to write Addy Wants to Fit In is because I had a story to tell. I had an experience that I believed would help others if I could share it. After writing my draft and feeling like it was getting closer to a finished product, I learned about the traditional publishing process.
I learned it would be a long and likely expensive. I was antsy (no pun intended 🐜) to share my story and took matters into my own hands to release my book more quickly.
I started digging into self-publishing and realized it was the perfect avenue for me.
I use Amazon’s print-on-demand platform, which means that if someone orders my book today, they have it delivered to them in 2 days with Prime (is that MAGIC or what?!) Amazon takes a fee for printing and shipping costs, and I get a royalty check each month. I’ve been able to have the freedom to take my book on the road without anyone telling me what to do or not do when it comes to a book tour or future books I plan on writing.
We recommend self-publishing for anyone who is:
a self-starter.
wants to check off “publish a book” from their bucket list, without changing career paths completely.
ready to put in the work to make it to the finish line.
We take out the guesswork and time-consuming piece of figuring out the self-publishing platform. We work with writers who have already written their stories and are looking for a way to make them real. Our favorite part is celebrating when you hit publish!
